Conductivity Pack
The Conductivity pack is both the Conductivity adapter (3135) and the Conductivity electrode (3136).
This sensor can be set to any of four ranges enabling accurate measurements from very low ionic sources such as deionised or distilled water to very highly conductive solutions including sea water.Typical conductivity ranges for a range of samples are given in a table in the user manual (see Resources).
The electrode incorporates an in-built temperature sensor that is used to compensate for changes in the conductivity of solutions with temperature.
Applications
Chemistry:
- Titrations of strong versus weak acids
- Electrolytes and Non-electrolytes
- Finding the equivalence point
- Difference between ionic and molecular compounds.
Biology:
- Diffusion of ions through a membrane
Environmental:
- Environmental testing for salinity, total dissolved solids or general conductivity in water samples.
The Conductivity Electrode and Adaptor are used together. The Conductivity electrode includes built-in automatic temperature compensation for range 0 - 35°C, and can be used in solutions within a temperature range of 0 - 80°C.
The electrode should be kept clean and free of deposits and should therefore be washed between samples, and after use to prevent build up on the graphite plates.
